Polokwane, Limpopo – Reflecting its ongoing support for advancing the development of women’s football, Sasol, together with Banyana Banyana and the South African Football Association (SAFA), visited the Northern Academy Secondary School in Polokwane to host a football development clinic and hand over football kit and equipment to 3 schools that attended the event.
The visit comes as Sasol Banyana Banyana prepare for the upcoming COSAFA Women’s Championship, which will take place in Polokwane from 18 February. In the spirit of giving back, the team kicked off their tournament journey by transferring their knowledge and skills to a group of over 100 young girls aspiring to be like their national heroines. The football clinic featured 5 skill-building drills designed to improve technique, teamwork and game awareness and each drill was, led by Banyana Banyana players.
In addition to Northern Academy, Sasol also extended its support to Capricorn High School and Myngenoegen English Private School, where schools received soccer balls and full soccer kits aimed at encouraging participation and development at grassroots level. As Sasol Banyana Banyana prepare to compete in the COSAFA Women’s Championship, this women’s football development engagement served as a reminder that success on the field is closely linked to investment in communities. Through meaningful and sustained support, Sasol continues to play a pivotal role in nurturing the future of women’s football in South Africa.
