Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana returned home after their successful encounter with the Les Teranga Lionesses in a series of friendly matches in Senegal. In the first match, played on 1 June, the teams ended in a 1-1 draw. South Africa dominated the encounter but ultimately had to share the spoils with the West African team.
On June 4th, Banyana Banyana showcased their strength with a solid 2-0 victory over Senegal. Amogelang Motau opened the scoring with a brilliant free-kick in the 13th minute, followed by Noxolo Cesane’s goal in the 43rd minute, sealing the win for the Sasol-sponsored national team.
“We are proud of the team for the remarkable game they played, it was also encouraging to see some of the newly capped players responding very well to the task at hand and connecting with the established Banyana Banyana players. The team continue to inspire us with their resilience and commitment playing with pride and heart, carrying the hopes and dreams of the nation said Sasol Group Brand and Sponsorship Manager, Dean Somerset.
These friendlies, secured last month during the FIFA break, provided Banyana Banyana with a valuable opportunity to strengthen team cohesion and sharpen their skills ahead of the WAFCON tournament, which they will be defending.
