Banyana Banyana head coach Desiree Ellis has officially named the final 26-player squad set to represent South Africa at the upcoming Total Energies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2024 in Morocco. The defending champions will depart for Morocco on Tuesday, 25 June, as they prepare to compete in Group C alongside Ghana, Tanzania, and Mali.
This announcement marks a crucial milestone in the team’s journey to retain their continental crown, following their historic victory at the 2022 edition of the tournament.
The Sasol-sponsored African champions will begin their WAFCON campaign against Ghana on Monday, 7 July 2025 at the Honneur Stadium in Oujda, which will serve as Banyana Banyana’s base for the group stage. The team will then face Tanzania on Friday, 11 July, before concluding their Group C fixtures against Mali on Monday, 14 July 2025.

The highly anticipated WAFCON 2025 tournament runs from 5 to 26 July 2025, with the opening match taking place on Saturday, 5 July between hosts Morocco and Zambia at the newly built Olympic Stadium in Rabat.
