In an atmosphere filled with excitement and adrenaline, runners from all over the country lined up for the 45th Sasol Secunda Marathon on Saturday the 15th of February, challenging personal records and endurance.
The Sasol Secunda Marathon is the official qualifier for the Comrades and Two Oceans ultra marathons, and a fun-filled event for runners of different levels of fitness, featuring a half marathon, 10 km race and a Fun Run. The overcast and cool weather conditions provided an ideal setting for the race, as the marathon and half marathon runners set off from the Sasol Recreation Club at 6AM, ‘painting Secunda red’ in their respective clubs’ colours.

Sasol is a committed supporter of activities that promote social cohesion, health and wellbeing, and the marathon plays a significant role in encouraging communities to adopt active living.
The Sasol Secunda Marathon is the highlight event of the Sasol Marathon Club and draws hundreds of enthusiastic volunteers from different Sasol business units who serve the runners with drinks and refreshments at the eight waterpoints along the race route.
